GREG JENKINS CAPTURES KDS MOTORSPORTS MAY 8th EVENT WIN!
23 CARS ALL TOGETHER WITH 17 5.10 & QUICKER QUALIFIERS!

KINSTON, NC - On Saturday, May 8th the stronger-than-ever Heads-Up DoorSlammers rolled into the Kinston Drag Strip for the third time this racing season. A great turnout of 23 bad-to-the-bone Top Sportsman / Quick 8 style race cars took to the track under absolutely beautiful sunny skies around 5pm.

All participants received 3 qualifying sessions then headed into 1st round with a total of 17 cars that ran 5.10 and quicker to make the show.

A scary moment for Jake & Steve Corker during qualifying when thier Firebird slid along side the guardrail producing minor damage to the car. Jake was OK and father Steve says they will be back at it very soon for sure!
The local favorite Ernie Everett took his his solid black 63' Corvette to the #1 qualifying spot with a stout 4.48 which awarded him the bye run in round one. After the burnout on his 2nd round match-up, something happened to the car and was forced to abort the run, thus unfortunately ending his day.

After several rounds of action-packed eliminations, the finals came down between Greg Jenkins in his gorgeous orange 57' Chevy of Pageland, SC and Mike Graham of Skipwith, VA driving the Henry Martin owned Ford Thunderbird.

Jenkins would take the win between this classic Chevy vs. Ford final round match-up.
The next Heads-Up DoorSlammer event is scheduled for Saturday, June 5th right back here at KDS MotorSports!
